Councillor Don Whitaker has been officially selected as Restore Britain’s parliamentary candidate to represent the Burnley constituency at the next General Election.
Cllr Whitaker, who currently serves as the elected councillor for Whittlefield with Ightenhill and Chair of Burnley Council’s Audit and Standards Committee, stands as Lancashire’s sole elected representative for Restore Britain.
Launching his parliamentary campaign, Cllr Whitaker outlined his commitment to bringing the same practical, local-first approach he has delivered at the ward level to Parliament. His key campaign priorities focus on protecting local family housing, tackling anti-social behaviour, improving town infrastructure, and delivering real accountability in public spending.
Speaking on his selection as Parliamentary Candidate, Councillor Don Whitaker said:
“I am honoured to be selected as Restore Britain’s parliamentary candidate for Burnley. What we have delivered for Whittlefield with Ightenhill – standing up for local residents, improving community spaces, and fighting to protect our streets – is exactly what our entire constituency and country need right now.
“People across Burnley are proud of their town and proud of their country, and they deserve to feel proud of their local streets too. Clean, safe, and well-maintained neighbourhoods shouldn’t be too much to ask. At the local council level, we can push for protections against unchecked HMOs and demand better services, but in Parliament, I can actually work to change the rules directly.
“I am not prepared to sit back and watch our town and country be run down street by street. It is time for strong, common-sense leadership that puts local people first, and I look forward to taking that fight to Westminster.”
The Restore Britain Burnley campaign team will be rolling out grassroots canvassing, community meetings, and action days across all wards in the constituency in the coming weeks.
